Renfrewshire Council – proud recipient of Council of the Year – is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Manager to lead quality assurance and performance improvement across our primary and secondary schools. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of education in a vibrant, ambitious local authority committed to equity, excellence, and innovation.

What you’ll do

Reporting directly to the Head of Education, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving strategic leadership, robust self-evaluation, and data-informed decision-making across Renfrewshire’s schools. You’ll lead quality improvement visits, support school inspections, and oversee performance reviews of head teachers, ensuring our services reflect national and local priorities.

You’ll contribute to the development of Renfrewshire’s integrated children’s services plan, community plan, and justice plan, while championing health and wellbeing across the service. Your leadership will strengthen partnerships, embed inclusive practice, and support the delivery of the Council Plan and Education Improvement Plan.

What you’ll bring

We’re seeking a dynamic leader with:

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Proven senior leadership experience in primary or secondary education
  • A strong track record of managing teams and resources in complex organisations
  • Deep knowledge of national education policy, legislation, and inspection frameworks
  • Demonstrated success in improving outcomes through strategic, inclusive practice

You’ll bring strategic insight, resilience, and the ability to inspire teams to deliver high-quality, child-centred services. Experience in leading health and wellbeing initiatives and using performance data to drive improvement is essential.

Why Renfrewshire?

We’re proud of our bold ambitions, collaborative culture, and commitment to making a real difference for our communities. This is your chance to lead from the front, shape the future, and leave a lasting legacy.
